Press release

Sefton charity seeking to grow with the help of Green Community Grant

South Sefton charity, Rimrose Valley Friends [1], is to benefit from funds raised by players of the Postcode Lottery having secured a Green Community Grant [2].

The Green Community Grant programme prioritises organisations that work in communities located in the top 15% of the Index of Multiple Deprivation [3] whose work focuses on habitat or species restoration and protection.

Rimrose Valley Friends already works closely with Sefton Council’s land management team, Green Sefton [4], and its Local Environmental Record Centre, Merseyside BioBank [5], to identify opportunities to improve the habits of Rimrose Valley and increase its biodiversity and has been looking for opportunities to expand this work.

Speaking on behalf of the charity, Project Manager Stu Bennett said:

“Rimrose Valley is home to some fantastic wildlife in Roe deer, Barn owls, bats, Water voles and an incredible range of flora and fauna.

“Thanks to Postcode Lottery players and the Postcode Green Trust, we’ll be able to widen our work and do even more to protect and enhance the park’s nature, for everyone to enjoy.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for people to get involved in our work, so we encourage everyone to follow Rimrose Valley Friends on social media and to visit www.rimrosevalleyfriends.org to find out more.”
