Community Clear Up 22 March 2015

On Sunday Rimrose Valley Friends and people from the communities who are served by the Rimrose Valley Country Park mobilised to hold a Clear Up Day. 40 people turned out amidst the glorious early spring sunshine and were joined by Rangers from Sefton Council’s Coast and Countryside team, plus Police and Community Support Officers from Merseyside Police.

Almost 100 bags of rubbish were collected, bringing a much needed and instant improvement to the landscape and safety of Rimrose Valley.

Organisers said “Rimrose Valley Friends as an organisation is in its early stages of development, having recently been set up to recognise the value and promote the beauty of the Rimrose Valley Country Park, to bring about much needed improvements and to foster close ties with the communities who can share in this beautiful resource. Although it’s on the doorstep of thousands of people, many aren’t making full use of it and we’re actively encouraging people to visit Rimrose Valley to see what they’ve got on their doorstep.

“Over the last 4 weeks since our launch we’ve had over 100 people sign up as Rimrose Valley Friends. This is a tremendous show of support that really encourages us to ramp up our efforts to make a real difference to this fantastic community resource. We’ve also been shown tremendous support by Sefton Council, our local councillors and Merseyside Police.

“This is only the beginning and we’re really excited about what we’re going to be able to do to make a difference. We’ll be applying for funding to bring investment into Rimrose Valley and right now we’re asking people to show their support by signing up as Rimrose Valley Friends.

“We will soon announce a date for our next Community Clear Up event”
