Introduction

Since February 2015, Rimrose Valley Friends has existed to promote and improve the wonderful community resource that is Rimrose Valley Country Park.  We are the connection between Rimrose Valley, the community and statutory bodies such as Sefton Council and Merseyside Police, and we will foster links with other interested groups such as the Canal Trust and the Woodland Trust to name but a few.  We will also be applying for and acquiring funding to inject investment into Rimrose Valley to enhance it's beauty and function to the communities it serves.

As well as planning to bring positive enhancements and investment into Rimrose Valley, we know there are concerns regarding anti-social behaviour which is causing distress to park users and local residents bordering the park, meaning that some people believe that Rimrose Valley is an area to avoid.  We are working closely with the community, Merseyside Police and Sefton Council to address these concerns.

We invite anyone who wants to support us to become a Rimrose Valley Friend.  As of March 2015, just one month in from when we started, we have grown to 119 friends. This shows the strength of support we have.  We are actively encouraging as many people as possible to become a Rimrose Valley Friend so that Rimrose Valley can be a beautiful and safe place for all visitors and local residents alike.

Become a Rimrose Valley Friend

We're just starting out and our success at this stage is dependant on getting enough Friends. Please let us know that you support what we're doing by becoming a Rimrose Valley Friend.  Please do encourage your family and neighbours to do the same.  You will not be under any obligation to do anything else.
To sign up is enough, and your participation in future is entirely optional.

Membership and Volunteers

There's a lot to do.

Over the next few weeks we will be forming our constitution and committee.  At that time people will have the option to become a full member. A Rimrose Valley Friend will be kept up to date on what we're doing and invited to partake in events, however a full member will also have voting rights and will be entitled to apply to be on the committee.

This website is temporary, until someone volunteers to build one for us (please let us know if you can help!), and the aim of this website right now is to communicate to The Valley's communities what we're doing so that we can build on the amazing support we're getting.  We need people to please become a Rimrose Valley Friend so we can stay in touch with you.   This is a massive undertaking and showing your support in this way will cost you nothing, be without any obligation and it will take only a minute of your time by clcking the red button above.

What we're doing at the moment

Firstly we're building support.  We've got a growing support base building which includes local councillors and Joe Benton, MP; and most importantly we're getting amazing support from people in our community.  But what we need more than anything else is people who are happy to put themselves forward as Rimrose Valley Friends.  Only by having a large enough number of Friends will we be confident that we will succeed.  We're working people and our time is limited, so knowing we have fantastic support will motivate us to keep going.

We're also working with the police, local councillors and MPs on the urgent issue of the misuse of Scrambler Bikes in and around The Valley.  It's a matter that can't wait due to the safety and antisocial issues that are affecting so many residents and users of The Valley.  Good progress has already is being made but we need to get enough people together to have real strength of numbers to work effectively with the police and the council.

Our desires and aims

  • to enhance the natural beauty of The Valley
  • to encourage events and recreational activities; making The Valley a vibrant, peaceful oasis which people of all ages can enjoy
  • to make and keep The Valley a safe place, free of anti-social behaviour. We will do this by working with the Police, the Council, Ward Councillors, The Rangers, our MPs and other friends and residents associations to protect the Valley and the communities who enjoy it.
  • to bring communities together, making The Valley the heart of Sefton.  A place that is cherished and loved, and well known by all
  • to respect the sheer size of the Valley (over 2 miles long), working along it's length and breadth to ensure all communities who want to be represented, are represented
  • To protect The Valley from being built on. If and when such challenges arise, we will be ready and a force to be reckoned with, standing together and working within the law.
