As has been discussed a few times recently on our Facebook Group, flytipping at the Field Lane Carpark entrance to Rimrose Valley (see map here) is on the increase.

Fly-tipping at the Field Lane Carpark

Fly-tipping at the Field Lane Carpark

Sefton Council’s Parks & Greenspaces team have been brilliant at responding each time but the problem is getting out of hand.  They’ve asked us whether people would support the installation of a drop bollard, in other words a barrier that would remain locked. It would mean that the public wouldn’t be able to park in the car park, however there’s ample parking available on the adjoining streets.

Where a drop bollard has been installed elsewhere it’s stopped fly-tipping and it’s been the lowest cost way to address the problem.

CCTV is also being looked at but as the costs are very high it’s unlikely to be approved.

What do you think about a drop bollard? Please comment by emailing us or adding your comments on our Facebook Group.

We’ll collate and feed all responses back to the council to help them to decide how to solve this problem.

Thank you for your continued support.
